We invite creative professionals, artists, students or anyone interested in the possibilities of neon light, to join us for a summer solstice party at the glass studios of Berlin Glas eV. Feel the heat and see the light during these intensive one-day courses or neon taster sessions, aimed at those wanting to delve into the world of neon. Participants are introduced to neon, its uses and possibilities as well as talking through a palette of neon based materials and equipment. Through mesmerising demonstrations participants learn from professional tutors how to cut, blow, stretch, bend and fuse the glass, process, gas and excite with electricity. In the One Day Intensives, each participant has the opportunity to design and create a fully functioning neon to take home at the end of the day.

Neon Workshops was set up in 2009 with an aim to expose, explore and teach neon as a method of expression and cultural production, as well as hoping to challenge common expectations of the media. A mobile facility has been engineered and is used to host workshops both in house, nationally and internationally. Over the last four years, we have staged courses in Paris, Bergen, Berlin, Denmark and various UK cities, with upcoming workshops in New York and Biarritz.

In February 2014 Neon Workshops staged a landmark mobile neon workshop in Reykjavik, Iceland. Northern Lights was a 4-day neon spectacular, set below the beautiful Aurora Borealis, with three tutors, 12 participants and one Artist-in-Residence; the celebrated Czech artist Magdalena Jetelová
