WORKSHOPS SPRING 2014

The GlazenHuis of Lommel is presenting itself as the Flemish Centre for Contemporary Glass Art. However the GlazenHuis is committing itself a lot further than this subtitle is suggesting. It is a dynamic centre which wants to promote glass in all its forms and focusses on all its appearances and functionalities: Glass in daily use, glass in design, glass through history, glass in the future, glass within contemporary art. Especially giving this last 'glass as an artistic medium' a place within contemporary art is one of our main goals.
The GlazenHuis shows that glass can be what it wants to be: an object or a painting, bronze or gemstone, art or design, unique or ordinary, colourful or transparent.

WORKSHOPS
Education is a very important pillar for the GlazenHuis. In the studio we organize workshops under our own management and courses in cooperation with the training centre Syntra Hasselt. The Noord-Limburgs Instituut voor Kunstonderwijs (NIKO) offers a glass education led by Lieve Stienissen.
On a yearly base the GlazenHuis offers its course members a varied program under the management of its own staff and (inter)national glass artists, from introductions glassblowing and glasscasting till specific technical or experimantal workshops for the advanced.?Contact: info@hetglazenhuis.be

COURSES
In cooperation with Syntra Limburg, we annually organize a glassblowing and glass casting course for beginners. This practical course under the skilful guidance of Nadia Mathijnssens consists of twelve evening classes. Here the principles of blowing and casting glass, as well as the cold working possibilities are illustrated via demonstrations and exercises.
