The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences was founded in 1955. It is dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy® Award for News, Sports, Daytime, Public Service and Technology.

Program on stained glass in South Dakota has been nominated for a regional Emmy Award.

"Light of the Prairie: Stained Glass in South Dakota" was produced by South Dakota Public Broadcasting. The documentary, produced by Stephanie Rissler, is one of three nominees in the historical documentary category in the 2013 Upper Midwest Regional Emmys. The honors will be awarded Sept. 28 at the State Theatre in Minneapolis.
