Silvia Levenson was born in Buenos Aires, and during the “disappearances” of the Dirty War, she immigrated to Italy, where she has become a professional artist, teacher, and an important mentor to her students. Themes surrounding social and political issues inform her work, which is very often personal; she uses art as a vehicle to express her sometimes-painful past, and to try to come to terms with some of society ?s murky histories. She questions how, in our present moment, we are still able to forge dark - and very often - regrettable experiences.

The 5-day residency at Berlin Glas e.V. Artist in Residence is aimed at working with internationally-renown artists closely to explore and develop concepts that can be translated into glass.

Berlin Glas, e.V. is the non-profit arm of Berlin Art Glas GmbH aiming to provide international artists and students the opportunity to work with hot glass in Germany’s capital. Berlin Glas, e.V. 's mission is to share the ability of creating art with glass with the public and provide a resource to artists of all media. The underlying message that working in collaboration with artists of various cultures doesn't just broaden someone's artistic capacity, but actually creates a culture of peace.

A light / glass / sound installation designed by Youssef El Khoury, architect, exhibition and light designer (Dr. Ing. Des.); in cooperation with aleatoric musician Jan Schöwer (technical support Christian Kamburow). The installation experiments with glass space and sound but it is also a metaphor of the ephemeral and the accidental, and a play with fragility, time, and everyday life.

Introducing Kiez Fusing
In 2014, Bullseye Glass Co. and BVD Pece donated glass and a fusing kiln, in order that we extend our youth programme to a younger audience, and inspiring us to develop a project we call Kiez Fusing. The circa 2000 year-old technique is safe for children as young as 3 years old, and the potential to foster confidence and creativity in adolescents is limitless.

Kiez Fusing will be offering workshops on a weekly basis for refugee children in Berlin. With the current influx of families escaping the dire conditions in various parts of the world, we are looking forward to teaching glass fusing classes to children, and glassblowing, through our Kids Blow Glas programme, to teenagers. The opportunity for kids from diverse backgrounds to work together creatively will forge unique and long-lasting bonds among each other, and the instructors, who are also from different backgrounds.

Our first workshop is on the 5th of December!
