The collateral event to the 56th Biennale Arte di Venezia, Glasstress 2015 Gotika, is an international collective exhibition which unites 50 artists from 20 countries, and celebrates Murano glass and is set on the first floor of Palazzo Franchetti. The exhibition has reached its fourth edition, and Glasstress 2015 Gotika, this year, is produced by the Fondazione Berengo in collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum and the Fondazione Musei Civici of Venice.

Curated by Adriano Berengo, president of the foundation that goes by the same name and the director of the Contemporary Art Department of the State Hermitage Museum Dimitry Ozerkov, Glasstress 2015 Gotika represents a look to the past for the future construction of an artistic project.

Among the artwork of the Hermitage that has arrived the exclusive Saint Petersburg’s collection of antique works is of great impact.
In line with this vision, Adriano Berengo and Dimitri Ozerkov asked Slow Food to collaborate and dedicate the third floor of Palazzo Franchetti, which had already been an antique Venetian bank, to the values of Bio-Diversity asking the Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen, who centers his work around the contamination between art and nature, to create a site specific installation entitled “Life Bank”.

Interactivity, multi sensorial stimulation and the use of many different artistic means are the key words to this innovative work of art, that uniting iron, wood, bronze sculptures and Murano glass, develops a dynamic and suggestive exhibition of over 500 antique seeds, Eden gardens and greenhouses: an artistic route through the soul that includes the viewer also with a symbolic sowing, which was created by the Social-Organic Farm Il Rosmarino of Marcon (between Venice and Treviso) and which was inspired by the Japanese master Fukoka, with the addition of special tastings created with antique cereals prepared by the acclaimed chef Pietro Leemann, innovator of vegetarian haute cuisine and ambassador of Expo Milano 2015.
