Julija Pociute solo exhibition Double End
This exhibition surveys the work of Lithuanian visual artist Julija Pociute, focusing particularly on the artist's production of past two years never previously exhibited in Finland. Over this period Pociutes’s objects, installations and video artworks articulated the theme of reflection as fundamental philosophical phenomenon, questioning reality and fiction. The artist presents specially adapted installations for the museum space including newest artworks. Balancing between different types of materials, artist constructs separated stories, which are exposed to the viewer‘s interpretation. Basically focusing on the idea of illusion she researches the theme of reflection as memory capturing phenomenon. In this case the glass material becomes a medium to express the main ideas and serves in a physical and symbolic form. Installations, corresponding to the principles of the phenomenology, exist not as a physical object, but as pure sensual reactions of a human perception.

Julija Pociute (b.1981), currently lives and works in Kaunas, Lithuania. She made 7 solo exhibitions in Lithuania, Germany and Spain. Selected group exhibitions include: Glasrijk Tubbergen, Netherlands (2016), Murano Glass museum, Italy (2015), Art Vilnius, Lithuania (2015), GLAZENHUIS, Belgium (2015), Glasmuseet Ebeltoft, Denmark (2014), Glass Museum, Spain (2014), Barrel, Croatia (2013).
